10, 2006 - Hero's "It’s funny how you will find heroes in the unlikeliest
of places. I never thought that working an office job I’d
use the word “hero” to describe anyone, but I work
with a man who’s only in his mid-20’s, and is one
of the most heroic men I’ve ever met. He’d never
describe himself that way, but most people who have met him
would."

January 18, 2007 - Survey
Dear Jonathan,
My name is Laura Cox and I am a student at West
Virginia University. I am conducting research in partial fulfillment
of the requirements for a master's degree in Occupational Therapy.
The purpose of my research study is to determine
the relationship between exercise training, competitive athletic
participation, and quality-of-life outcomes in wheelchair-bound
persons with spinal cord injury. The data collected from this
research investigation will help me as a future health care professional
to better understand the needs of active, spinal cord-injured
patients.
The entire survey should take approximately 10-15
minutes to complete and all responses will be kept completely
anonymous and confidential.
Sincerely,
Laura Cox
Please take the time to fill out this survey.
Not only will you be helping Laura, you may help others and their
quality of life in the future.

PROFESSIONAL DEBUT
Shawn Hessee has always been known to crack jokes. So it
seemed like the obvious choice when he decided to sign up for
classes at a comedy club. Shawn, who has Cerebral Palsy,
doesn't look or act like your normal "stand up comedian".
He even jokes about it in his act. But after weeks of practice
and going over some of his handicap jokes with fellow Fury teammate
Jonathan Greeson, Shawn debut at Charlie Goodnights Comedy Club
in Raleigh, NC on Thursday night.
It was 10 for 10 night. Ten comics for
$10. Shawn was the 8th comedian of the night and got some
of the loudest laughs all night. Greeson, who was there
to laugh at his friend and teammate said that the night was a
success. "Shawn did great. We weren't sure about
some of those jokes, but they all worked!" Greeson said.
Shawn plans on continuing his stand up and you
can follow him at Charlie
Goodnights.
